Cancellation Policy

Cancellation Policy

There is always some concern regarding rainy days and whether or not soccer goes ahead as scheduled. Here is the Weyburn Soccer Association’s policy regarding the decision to cancel play and the operation of the soccer cancellation line.

If it is raining during the day, the fields are always checked between 2 and 3pm to determine if they are safe for the kids to play on that evening. Soccer will only be cancelled if playing conditions are unsafe or will do harm to the fields. Soccer will always be cancelled or shut down due to lightning. Soccer will not be cancelled simply because it is cold or windy.

The decision to play or cancel is made before school gets out and a message is put on the cancellation line 306-842-1036 around 3:30 p.m. as well as the website.  After the cancellation line is updated, IT IS NOT CHANGED FOR THE REMAINDER OF THAT DAY.

If the weather changes drastically between 3:30 and the scheduled game time, then we will determine cancellation plans at the field.  These plans will be posted on the website at that time.

Parents always have the option to keep their kids home due to unfit weather conditions, but if the fields are safe to play on, soccer WILL NOT be cancelled. We have a very short season and we want the opportunity to play soccer each and every day!!

If the cancellation line says that soccer is going ahead as scheduled and coaches opt out of coming, they MUST contact players before the game or be at the field to make sure the kids are looked after and sent home safely.
In the event of sudden lightning storm during soccer, a WSA member will sound the horns signaling all players, coaches and families to leave the fields immediately.  Coaches please ensure all children are accounted for and safely sent home with their parents BEFORE you leave.
